Too many times a reader has to wade through a mess of other peoples’ perceived intelligence.  The written word is thought to be a complex thing, a gift set aside for the supremely talented, and a means of communication of sophisticated ideas.  Writers believe they must use words never spoken and metaphors pulled from the recesses of their too-big heads to garner interest in too-small ideas.  I, however, beg to differ.  There is nothing holding anyone back from authoring great works pertaining to real life.  We are all capable and all too scared to try.  So let’s throw the formal rigidities out the window and just write, colloquially speaking.
