V’Ani…Im Gilad…

I watch you….broken….crushed…as you pick up the pieces…of your shattered dreams…and silent hopes…and face the future.

With courage you stand…at attention…saluting the world…although they had forgotten you…and you walk on…erect…tall…giant.

Together…as a nation…we faced the difficulties…of wrenching feelings…of right and wrong…of good and bad…while you sat…isolated.

Together…we cried…for you…for those who were lost…for those who were denied justice…for a consistency that cannot be.

We felt…joy…and sorrow…combining today…in clear contradictions…with the support…of all the moral world.

Still you stand…with a careful smile…lighting up our lives…warming our hearts.

And I…small and unimportant…sense a shift…in all my interactions…with people…as I realize how alone…you will always feel.

  1. Wow…I must have missed this post. I read so many people’s opinion’s about this, but none of them touched me like this one did.

  2. I completely agree with Mystery Woman on this one. What you wrote is by far the most eloquent and soulful thing I’ve read regarding Gilad. Incredible…
